Heinrich R. Dueck was born in South Russia on August 27, 1873. In 1875 he immigrated with his  parents Jacob L. Duecks to Canada where they settled in Gruenfeld (Kleefeld), Manitoba, and he  lived there all his life. He was baptized in 1893 and accepted into the Kleine Gemeinde church  (now the Evangelical Mennonite Church). In 1901 he was elected to serve as songleader, in 1914 he  was elected as deacon, and in 1916 he was elected as minister in the Kleefeld church in which  capacity he served faithfully for 28 years. He remained a true and faithful member till his death  in 1944. 
   He married Katharina Reimer (daughter of Johann R. Reimer and Anna Warkentin)on March 7, 1897,  with Rev. Peter W. Loewen officiating. Out of this marriage 13 children were born. After 23 years  and 11 months of married life together, Katharina passed away, leaving a family of 11 children  with the youngest being only two years old. After two years as a widower, Heinrich married again  on April 22, 1923 to Elizabeth Brandt from Kansas. Bishop Jac F. Isaac officiated at this wedding.  Elizabeth was a great help and comfort to Heinrich for 24 years.    Rev. H.R. Dueck was instrumental in organizing Sunday School in the Steinbach church in 1926,  and introduced and organized Sunday School in the Kleefeld church in 1930. One of his greatest  blessings was when Kleefeld had its very own church building to worship in; this church was built  in 1939. 
   Heinrich R. Dueck passed away on June 20, 1944 at the age of 70 years.
